Stations and cards require activation before use, so that the system recognizes the asset.  After activation, the system knows which account the asset belongs to and which subscription applies. This information is needed for stations to authorize a charging session. For example, private stations will only accept cards that are active in the same account, and cards will only work at public (or roaming) stations when they have a subscription that allows public charging.

Customers can activate their assets themselves, or you can start the process for them. To activate their own assets, customers must be account owners. Business account owners are responsible for activating assets for their driver sub-accounts (employees) as well.

To activate assets on behalf of your customer, you must be a tenant admincustomer support, or support agent user of the tenant. When activating an asset for your customer, you start the activation process by selecting the asset, the account, and the subscription, and send a confirmation link to your customer. Your customer uses the link to complete activation, so that they can accept the terms and conditions attached to the asset subscription. If your customer doesn't use the link within seven days, the asset automatically becomes inactive again.

Status of account activation

  • You can only activate assets for a standard (sub-)account managed by an account owner after they complete their account setup. Otherwise, the system doesn't know which billing information applies to the asset.
  • You can activate assets on behalf of driver (employee) sub-accounts before they complete their account setup because the system uses the parent account's billing information.

The station's status is now pending, and the account owner receives an email requesting them to complete activation of their station.
